FireFoil™ wildfire structure shield FAQs

Quick answers about how FireFoil™ works, where to buy it, and what to expect.

    What is FireFoil™?
FireFoil™ is an aluminized wildfire structure shield that reflects radiant heat and helps block embers and burning debris. FireFoil™ is the manufacturer brand; you buy it through authorized distributors.
Does FireFoil™ make my structure fireproof?
No. FireFoil™ is a protective aid, not a guarantee. It works as one layer of a wildfire plan alongside defensible space, structure hardening, detection, and active measures, and is most effective deployed before the fire front arrives.
Can I stay inside my home while it is wrapped?

No. Never remain inside a wrapped structure, and never wrap yourself, another person, or animals inside one. FireFoil™ is a structure shield, not a survival shelter. It is not rated, tested, or intended to protect life.

Deploy it before a fire threatens, then leave. Follow every evacuation order and all direction from local fire authorities, without exception.

Wildland firefighters do carry aluminized personal fire shelters, but those are a separate, purpose-built device for crews who become entrapped, and agencies treat any deployment as the failure of every other plan. Nothing about that applies to a wrapped home.

    How does it work?
It reflects the majority of radiant heat and covers the vulnerable points where embers ignite structures, such as window sills, vents, gutters, and doors. See the research.
    What does the research show?
Independent lab research on aluminized structure wraps found up to 96% of radiant heat and up to 92% of convective heat blocked in tested assemblies (Takahashi, 2019). This validates the category, not any single product. Read the research and proof.
How is FireFoil™ different from foams, gels, or sprinklers?
FireFoil™ is a passive physical barrier you put up ahead of time that stays in place through the fire front, with no water or chemicals required. It complements active systems rather than replacing them. For a side-by-side look, see What works, where it fits, and the trade-offs.
What widths does it come in?
Five, ten, fifteen, and twenty foot widths. Wider material covers large walls and roofs with fewer seams and fewer pieces; narrower widths shield the base of a structure quickly. FireFoil™ is the widest structure shield made. Find where to buy. Why width matters compared with other wraps: Why panel width decides the job.
    How is it installed?
From a base-perimeter wrap to a full structure wrap, depending on size and your time to evacuate. It anchors to the structure with staples, strapping, or wire mesh. Never delay evacuation to deploy it. For how installs work and what drives the time on site, see Why panel width decides the job.
    Where do I buy FireFoil™?
Through authorized distributors: FireShields for residential and commercial property, Wildfire Arsenal for insurers and MGAs, and Firezat for government and agencies. Choose the right distributor.
Will it get here in time?
Order before you need it. Through FireShields, 5 ft rolls are stocked and ship in 1 to 2 business days. 10, 15, and 20 ft widths are made to order and ship in 2 to 5 business days. Those times run until the carrier picks up your order; UPS transit time is added after that, and your delivery estimate is shown at checkout. If you need material by a specific date, call FireShields at (855) 918-3473 before ordering. Don't wait for an approaching fire to order or deploy.
How does shipping work, and what does it cost?
FireShields ships within the United States by UPS. Shipping is calculated at checkout based on weight, service, and destination. Larger commercial orders may ship by freight and need a quote.
    What is the return policy?
You can cancel for a full refund until your order enters fulfillment or fabrication, which FireShields aims to start the same day you order. After that, returns for a change of mind aren't accepted, because wider widths are fabricated to order. If unused product is defective, FireShields replaces it on proof of defect within 90 days of purchase. Full details are in the FireShields Terms of Service.
    Is there a warranty?
FireFoil™ is a protective aid and does not guarantee that a structure will survive a wildfire. Product defects are covered by the FireShields replacement remedy described above. Full warranty terms and limitations are in the FireShields Terms of Service and Waiver and Release.
Is FireFoil™ made in the USA?
Yes. Materials are manufactured in Pennsylvania and fabricated in Las Vegas, NV.
Does FireFoil™ help my eligibility for homeowner's insurance?
Insurance eligibility, pricing, and any mitigation discounts are decided by each insurer, and carriers weigh wildfire mitigation differently, so we can't promise that FireFoil™ will change your eligibility or premium. Documented mitigation can be a meaningful part of the conversation with your insurer. To understand your options in wildfire-exposed areas, our partner Five Bays Insurance Agency can help.
