How To Deploy
For optimal protection, a complete deployment is highly recommended. This involves combining both types of do-it-yourself (DIY) deployments to ensure full coverage of your property.
Perimeter Deployment
A perimeter deployment secures FireFoil shields around the sides of a structure, from the ground up to the eaves or roofline. This defends walls, vents, windows, and under-eave areas.
- Do-it-yourself for two able-bodied people without prior experience
- A 3,000 square foot home can be completed in less than 30 minutes but rarely takes longer than 60 minutes
Roof Deployment
A roof deployment covers the roof with FireFoil shields. It can take about an hour but rarely more than 3 hours to perform a roof deployment.
Complete Deployment
Together, a perimeter and roof deployment provide full protection for the structure. A complete deployment is always the recommended deployment.
Perimeter vs. Roof vs. Complete Deployment
According to NIST, the relationship between ember hardening and structure survivability is not linear—hardening 80–90% of vulnerabilities does not equate to an 80–90% reduction in ignition risk. Total hardening (100% compliance) is typically required to meaningfully reduce the likelihood of structure ignition. This is why complete deployment is highly recommended.
However, many property owners in wildfire-prone areas already have Class A roofs, which offer strong resistance to fire. As a result, the top priority should be a perimeter deployment—especially when time is limited, as it provides significantly more protection than taking no action at all.
In short, perimeter deployment is better than nothing but complete deployment is highly recommended.
FireFoil Installer Network
FireFoil is designed for DIY or self-deployment.
If you’re unable—or prefer not—to deploy it yourself, you can arrange for someone in your network or a member of our FireFoil Installer Network to assist. While availability of installers cannot be guaranteed during wildfire events, we are committed to building a critical mass of trained teams in high-risk areas to increase the chances of support when needed.
Interested in joining the Installer Network? Reach out to installer@firefoil.com to learn how it can be both financially rewarding and a meaningful way to help protect communities.
